Pahole forest is a 685 acre natural reserve for indigenous plant and animal species. Most of the forest reserve is full of forested gulches and ridges. The forest itself is located on the Waianae Mountain range near the district of Waialua, located on the north shore of Oahu. Although temperatures seem to soar during the day hours, the forest’s location atop this great mountain causes the temperature to often drop during the night hours. Predominantly non-native species, the forests is still gaining efforts to replant and restore the remaining native plant and animal species in the area. Much of the forest itself is foliage, with little human or outside interaction from the public except for those camping at the nearby Peacock Flats location.
